Two months down into the new year! February turned out to be another crazy weather month with clear roads and only a trace of snow. Our “Dinner and a Movie” at the Art House Cinema & Pub was a big success. The movie was a fun picture, and I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house. We’ll have to do it again, maybe a Christmas movie like Die Hard! Thank you to all who were able to come out and enjoy this non-driving activity. We have a wonderful group of members, and our Porsches are simply the glue that brings us all together.

I’d also like to welcome Kenneth Giles a new member from Sheridan, WY. Kenneth drives a 2020 Macan. Welcome Kenneth, we hope we can meet you on our “Tour of the Lost State of Absaroka” coming up in June, if not sooner.

March 21st is going to be leisurely Tour of Yellowstone County. It’ll be a drive to get out in our Porsches, get the fluids up to temp, enjoy a few backroads and end up at a spot for lunch. Naturally, it’s weather dependent as Montana’s missing winter is still a looming possibility. I’ll get a flyer with details will follow as we get closer.

As mentioned last month, in April we will be hosting the PCA Zone 14 Presidents Meeting the weekend of April 10th. On Saturday evening, April 11th, Absaroka Region will be hosting an event for all our members to join our Zone 14 Representative Yvette Winslow, from Wild Rose Region in Canada, the Zone 14 Region’s Presidents, and Ron Gordan PCA National Vice President. The reception and a casual dinner will be at Angry Hank’s with food catered by Billing’s local Blue’s BBQ. The cost will be $20.00 per person. I’ll send out more information on that shortly. An RSVP will be important so we can plan the food order accordingly.

Also, in April we will also have a Spring New Member’s Welcome Drive over to Greycliff Mill. We’ll take the frontage road which is off the beaten path and lets us enjoy the slower paced world off the interstate. We did this a few years ago and it was a nice day with a great turnout of members in the colorful Porsches.

I look forward to seeing you all on one over our Absaroka Adventures.

PUSHING LIMITS – FEBRUARY PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Well, “Dry January” has taken on a different meaning this year in Absaroka Region. The lack of snow, or should I say winter, has allowed many of us to have our Porsches out on the roads, keeping the fluids warm and moving, bringing smiles to our faces, and making all things right in our world.

I’d like to welcome a new member to the region for January. Christopher Ideen lives in Billings and drives a 2014 Carrera 4. I hope we can all welcome him to the Absaroka Region at a gathering in the future.

Our February event will be” Date Night & A Movie.” On Thursday, February 12, we’re having a pre-Valentine’s Day Date Night at the Art House Cinema in downtown Billings. We’ve rented the theater for the evening and will be showing “The Art of Racing in the Rain”. We’ll meet at the theater at 6:00 PM for something to eat, a beverage, some fine conversation and then the movie. The movie will begin at 7:00 PM. There are 30 seats in the theater, and the cost will be $10 per person. Please send me a text with your name and headcount if attending to 208.859.4608. Reservations are filling up fast, we’re a little over halfway to the 30 total.

A note on the calendar, this summer, Yellowstone Region is planning a drive over Beartooth Highway this summer. I’m going to work with their leadership and see if we can participate in the drive as well. Perhaps we can have a multi-regional event together. As a result, we may shift a couple items around to make that happen.

Once I get calendars from the Zone’s other region’s I’ll post those as well. There are always events like Big Sky’s HPDE that interest our members.

PUSHING LIMITS – JANUARY PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

Moin and Happy New Year!

I hope you enjoyed a happy Holiday Season and a Happy New Year’s celebration.

To begin the 2026 year, I want to start by thanking all of you for allowing me to be president of the Porsche Club of America’s Absaroka Region once again. It means a lot and over the next couple of years I’ll work hard to ensure each of you get value from your membership as you make fun memories in your Porsche.

Over the course of 2026 my goal for the region is to continue to shine in all we do. Our little region is much like the Porsche brand in the early years of racing, a giant killer. We have always punched above our weight and this year there is a special incentive to achieve our very best so we can document and present it to the 2027 Porsche Parade in Boise, Idaho. Hopefully we’ll end up with some awards!

For this year, I have ideas for tours, overnighters, and some ad hoc drives where friends can gather for a coffee, beverage, or simply to venture out and enjoy an evening. The leadership team will get together soon to set a calendar and have it published. I’d like to over-communicate so no one misses out.

I think we’ll see some nice changes with the website over this upcoming year. Our website is our region’s calling card that, unlike Facebook, everyone has access to details and information on tours and activities and write-ups on past events. We’ll also take advantage of the PCA emailer for those times when we want to keep privacy a bit closer to the chest.

From PCA National, our quarterly subsidies will increase from $250 to $500. We will also be able to apply for two new member subsidies of $500 each annually. Lastly there is a new subsidy of $250 to host an event featuring electric vehicle (EV) content. This can be a social, tech, driving event, etc. Our Vice President Richard is knowledgeable in the EV field so we will be utilizing his expertise.
