Moin lieber Porschefahrer und Porschefahrerin!
Our October season closing driving event at Bill Windham’s home in Big Timber was a great success. We had a nice turn out from both our Billings and Bozeman members. Making the party from Bozeman were Randy Johnson and his friend Steve Figgins, and club vice president Steve and Susan Homec. From Billings we had Fred Magers, Greg and Susan Kohn, Stephanie and Daryl Haider, Susan Finn and her father Bob Voight, Bob and Chris Rosenbaum and Jo and I. Bill is a gracious host and it was a nice casual way to end of busy “official” driving season in the Absaroka Region. Thank you again Bill.
The annual PCA National Election of Officers is coming soon. In the recent October issue of Panorama you should have found a ballot to complete and return to PCA prior to November 30, 2012. On the ballot are: Manny Alban – President, Caren Cooper – Vice President, Sean Reardon – Secretary and Tom Gorsuch – Treasurer. I know most of you have never had the opportunity to meet these individuals but I have, at either Big Timber last year, or at Parade in Salt Lake City. They all are great ambassadors for PCA and excellent in their respective roles. I encourage you to take the time and mail in the ballot as recognition of their support. These are all volunteer positions and require tremendous dedication and expenditure of time. Our club couldn’t do it without them.
Also on a national theme, Panorama Editor Betty Jo Turner is retiring at the end of the year after 42 years at the helm. Panorama is widely regarded as the best automotive club magazine in the world. That is a quite a compliment. PCA after a long and exhaustive search has found her replacement. Pete Stout will take over as Porsche Panorama Editor and Director Integrated Communications on January 1. Pete comes from “Excellence” magazine which as Porsche themed magazines goes is, in my opinion the best. It will be interesting to see the changes to Panorama in the future and the PCA website over the course of next year.
Regionally, over the next month or so, we’ll work at an activities calendar for 2013. If you have ideas for drives, please send them our way. Everything is fair game. Some ideas we are pondering are a trip/picnic to Yellowtail Dam, a drive through the southern Big Horns, Virginia City Follies, and a tour to Cody. We really can use your inputs to keep up the variety.
Thank you to Herb Stoick, Stephanie and Daryl Haider, Scott and Barbara Heck, Roy and Karen Thorneycroft, and Bruce Wallace for their recent membership renewals.
