Pushing Limits – April President’s Message

Moin lieber Porschefahrer und Porschefahrerin!

The Zone 6 President’s Meeting was held in Bend, Oregon on March 9.  As usual it was a fun time.  Each region in our zone was represented and it’s always a fun time catching up with friends in the other regions and meeting the new region presidents.  Our PCA national Vice President Caren Cooper was also present and it was nice to be able to tell her directly about the good things we are doing here in our region.  The President’s meeting has proven to be a valuable tool in helping with ideas and I believe someone from our region’s leadership should attend each year.

Little Big Horn National Battlefield was changed up a bit to accommodate those needing to attend other activities back in Billings.  Five of us were able to get out and enjoy a short drive through the country.  It was impromptu, but a nice morning none the less.

The “official” Absaroka driving season kicks off on April 20th with our annual tour to the Paradise Valley and Chico Hot Springs Resort.  This year we change it up with a drive to Gardiner.  There we’ll have lunch at the K-Bar Pizza.  A drive in the park is sketchy as of this writing because YNP officials say they don’t have any money to open for a few weeks later because of budget woes.  If we are able to go into Yellowstone, we unfortunately miss the free day this year, so unless you have a park pass, there would be a $25 admission per car to do so.  Afterwards we’ll head back to Chico for a beverage, soak, or for those staying overnight, to get checked in.  The overnight and dinner option is sold out.

The dates for the Big Sky Region’s May DE in Lewistown are Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19.  Go to the Big Sky’s website for more information as there are some changes to the tech inspection process you will need to take into consideration.  Specifically, you will need to download a tech inspection form and have it completed (i.e. car inspected) 30 DAYS PRIOR to coming to the DE.  Dave Cooley is adamant about this because of new national DE directives.  It’s real simple; no pre completed tech form – no DE for you.  Registration is on line and is also a requirement this year.  Please do it before you arrive.  The site is secure and will maintain your privacy.

Finally, the 58th Porsche Parade in Michigan is filling up quickly.  Rooms at the Traverse City Resort are sold out and registration is already over 720!  Greg Kohn, Graham Beckett and I have registered and are planning on making the trek to the Wolverine state along with Silver Sager Mark Prusynski from Boise in his Cayman.  It’ll be a long drive, but I’m sure we’ll make memories along the way.

Thank you also to members Scott Cranston and Kathy Korum, Ralph McClellan, Greg Williams and Mary Ronan for their recent renewals.
